How To: Taking inspiration from a card challenge

Hi crafty friends! I’m entering the Altenew July Challenge. The colour pallet is a soft blue, bright yellow and vibrant green and features a folk art inspiration photo.

The Sisters of the Heart set and Garden Harmony embossing folder called out to me! I applied arctic ink to the inside of the embossing folder and ran through my die cut machine.

I stamped the image and used the stencils to create two beautiful flowers, which I die cut. For my first card I adhered the larger flower at an angle, added a Hugs die cut with starched dimension and vellum shadow, and finished with blue pearls. I stamped on the envelope in matching ink.

For my second card I channeled my inner Michelle Short (the card grotto) and made an adorable tag card! I die cut the tag, embossed using the Garden Harmony embossing folder and ink blended Arctic and Caribbean Sea. I stacked two white die cuts behind and adhered to my scallop die cut card panel, with some blue floss to finish.

I added the smaller flower die cut, a sentiment strip from the BAF Magnolia set and finished with glossy pearls. I used the embossing folder with some residual ink on the envelop flap.l for a cute finish.

I hope you enjoyed these two cards, thanks for stopping by! Please see full supply list below.
